lemlem

I love lemlem, a line of clothes for women, babies, girls and accessories created by Supermodel / actress and World Health Organization's Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Liya Kebede.
This is a blurb from the site:

lemlem:

n. 1) hand made in Ethiopia from natural cotton.
v. 2) [Amharic] bloom, flourish.
3) [history] Since ancient times in the land of the Queen of Sheba, the Ethiopian people have adorned themselves in beautiful hand woven and hand embroidered clothing. The hand spinning of cotton and intricate embroidery was the work of women while the hand weaving was done mainly by men. It is our wish to bring to you an incredible handwork and help preserve this ancient art form by creating opportunities for the Artisans.

J.Crew is carrying lemlem scarves, wraps a tunic and the beautiful Lucy Patio Dress...see it above!

alden's ice cream

I found Alden's ice cream at Whole Foods.  It is beyond delicious.  The mint chip is my favorite.  I like my chip ice cream with shaved semi-sweet chocolate as opposed to chips or chunks of chocolate.  Like Baskin Robbins chocolate chip and mint chocolate chip, Alden's is shaved and very creamy, hence richer than rich,  all natural and organic.  Baskin Robbins used to be my ultimate favorite but I think they changed the recipe somewhere along the commercial way.  I have emailed Alden to say please make a vanillla chocolate chip.  As of right now there is only chocolate chocolate chip and the mint chip....just as well.  The last thing I need right now is loads of ice cream with swim suit weather upon us!

daylesford organic

Cathrin is my friend that sadly for me, is moving back to the UK.  I adore her and her two toe headed boys.  She has been wonderful giving me loads of advice on what to do and see on our upcoming trip to England.  This is one of the spots she suggested for something yummy.  Looks fantastic!  Check out Daylesford Organic here.

scandinavian retreat

Just discovered this blog called scandinavian retreat created by a woman named Pippi...what taste she has.  The above images are of her home away from home...just super lovely.  Full on inspiration.  I am very much drawn to the simplicity and neutral palette.  Love her name too!  More favorite images to share tomorrow.

off the shelf

Off The Shelf: Cooking From the Pantry
Donna Hay, the Martha of down under, creates the best eye candy when it comes to food and books.  I found a used copy of Off The Shelf: Cooking From the Pantry at a book sale last weekend.  It's filled with lots of delicious looking quick recipes with ingredients we "should" have in our pantry.  All the pasta dishes look easy....for example, spaghetti and lemon-marinated salmon.  Yum.  If you are looking for some inspiration when it comes to the kitchen, this is the book for you!

This photo of Everett and Piper was taken at the Brooklyn Flea in Alex Brown's pop up photo booth.
It's actually a sweet little polaroid.  Worth a trip for a photo and other treats like a blackberry jasmine popsicle from People's Pops.  It's every Saturday.  Happy Mother's Day!

our books for children picks

It is our turn to provide Everett's classroom with library books.  I decided to pick from our library of books for children since we have a huge collection.  Reading books to children was a daily event paper scissors oranges and one of my favorite times at the studio.  I love talking to the children about the illustrations...so many books with AMAZING art and great stories!
Ashley, Everett's teacher, had specific requests:

1. Books must be realistic, for example no talking animals
2. Beautiful illustrations
3.  Seasonal
4. Books appropriate for the different ages in the class  (2 -5ish)

The following books are the ones Everett and I chose.
All are favorites and should be part of your library.
